Nathan started his Boy Scout career in September of 2000 when he joined Troop 572. When the Troop folded one year later, he moved to Troop 224, Carrick, PA, where he held the positions of Troop Scribe, Patrol Leader, and eventually Senior Patrol Leader. Star rank within his first two years of Scouting. it was in this Troop that Nathan was elected in to the Order Of The Arrow, at the age of twelve. Nathan earned his Life rank in 2004. Due to low enrollment and even lower community support, Troop 224 folded in the summer of 2006. Nathan then moved to Troop 228 of Bethel Park, PA where he held the position of Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and currently holds the position of Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
in 2005, Nathan volunteered his time as a CIT at Camp Liberty. He enjoyed his first three weeks so much that he decided to volunteer for three more weeks. It was at Camp Liberty as a volunteer that Nathan first got involved with the acting and ceremonies involved with the Order Of The Arrow. He acted in many tap out ceremonies his first year and assisted on service projects benefiting the Order. it was due to this work that Enda Lechauhanne Lodge #57 voted to award him the Silver Acorn award for service to council camping. Nathan continued to work the next two years at Camp Liberty, where he was an instructor in the Eco-Con and Trail To Eagle program areas. He had speaking roles in both the Ordeal and Brotherhood ceremonies those two years and acted during numerous ceremonial weekends as well. Nathan took on the position of Commissary Committee Chairman in the Spring of 2005 and since then has served the Lodge in this capacity.
