Chiefly Speaking - March 2008
Since this is the Lodge’s 15th anniversary, this is the year to do great things. Remember to stay an active, honored Brother. The best way to get involved is to join a committee get involved in a chapter, help you troop out. Find an outlet that you are interested in to help the scouting movement and the ideals of camping. If you need suggestions or would like to find out exactly what you can do, let me know. The Lodge can find a great position or job that suits to your skills.
As a reminder, this year we have a special deal available for paying your dues on time. All members that pay their dues by the deadline, March 31, 2008, will receive a special limited edition 15th anniversary patch. The only way to get this patch is by paying your dues in a timely manner. This will be part of a set comprised of 3 patches. The silver bordered patch available by paying your dues on time, the gold bordered patch will be available in the trading post at OA events and at Summer camp, and the bronze bordered patch available only by attending 2008 Family Banquet on Saturday, March 15th. Have you looked outside recently? If you have, you know that Winter has been very active, meaning that Spring is not far behind. Spring is a very busy time for our Lodge. In May, three events will happen.
First, May 10th is Pre-Ceremonial at Heritage Reservation. The format of Pre-Ceremonial is changing from past years. Instead of the day being focused on just setting up tents for the following weekend, it will also have a enormous opportunity for fellowship. Start asking your Chapter Chief about plans for this event now to see what we have in mind.
Second, May 16th -18th for our Lodge’s Spring Ceremonial at Heritage Reservation. This weekend provides another opportunity for Ordeal Candidates to complete their ordeal and join our Lodge. During the weekend, we will be performing service projects that will assist in preparing the camp for the mass flow of Scouts and Scouters for this year’s Road Trip 2008. Let us pull together as a Lodge to help to ensure a great camping experience for this year! Download 2008 Spring Ceremonial Registration form.
Third, May 30th - June 1st for Spring Service Weekend at Camp Baker. This will be the last opportunity Ordeal candidates to complete their ordeal prior to Summer Camp. This weekend also represent final camp to receive service in our two year rotation plan. This Fall, we will start the rotation again. Let us show Camp Baker the same level of service that we have provided to our Council's other 4 camps! This will insure that Scouts across the Council will have a positive camping experience year after year. Download 2008 Spring Service Weekend Registration form.
See you at Family Banquet!
